William E. Smith

Mr. William E. "Smitty" Smith age 58 years died in his Walpole home on Sunday , April 12th, 2009, surrounded by his family. Born in Quincy , Massachusetts on June 1, 1950, the son of Matthew F. and Dorothy A. (Doane) Smith. He graduated from Quincy North High School with the Class of 1968. He attended Northeastern University School of Engineering.

A resident of Walpole for the past 18 years moving here from Quincy. A retired Design Engineer for the Polariod Company, he had worked there for over 32 years and retired in 2004.

He enjoyed working around the house, as a handyman, home remodeling projects and landscaping. He was an avid golfer. His greatest joy came from his grandchildren.

Beloved husband of Monica (Groden) Smith Step father of Ryan Saulnier of Walpole, Alison Head Saulnier of Norwood, Courtney Doherty of Walpole Grandfather of Morgan Head Saulnier, Kristin Head Saulnier both of Norwood, and Jackson Robert Doherty of Walpole. Devoted son of Dorothy A. (Doane) Smith of Rockland and the late Matthew F. Smith Brother of Matthew F. Smith, and Nancy Gilligan both of Hanover also survived by many nieces and nephews

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial that will be celebrated at Saint Timothy's Church Nichols Street Norwood on Thursday, April 16, 2009 @ 9AM. Visiting hours are Wednesday, April 15, 2009 from 3pm to 8pm in the James H. Delaney & Son Funeral Home 48 Common Street Walpole, Massachusetts. Interment Terrace Hill Cemetery, Walpole.
