William Joseph McMorrow, age 93, of Walpole and East Dennis, Massachusetts, passed away on Friday, April 11, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Boston, Massachusetts on December 21, 1931, he was the son of John and Ella (Curran) McMorrow.
Beloved husband of 70 years of Margaret “Peg” (McCann) McMorrow, originally of Dorchester
Proud father of William A. McMorrow and his wife June of Plainville, Michael J. McMorrow and his partner Susan McCormick of Stoughton, Thomas McMorrow of Holliston, and Kathleen Strickland of Walpole and her partner Nick Perrelli of Norfolk
Loving grandfather of Tim, Steve, Evan, Neal, Liam, Owen, Erin, Sarah, and Alison
Devoted great-grandfather of Savannah, Will, James, Jackson, and Tenley
Brother of the late Alice Cooney, John McMorrow, James McMorrow, and Mary Reid
Also survived by many caring nieces and nephews
Bill attended Boston College High School and continued his education at the Boston College School of Management. He played baseball for the BC Eagles and, as Captain, led his team to the 1953 World Series. Bill graduated from Boston College in 1953 and later returned, earning his master’s degree in English.
Bill began his career in Washington, D.C. as a civilian and member of the U.S. Army’s National Security Agency. In 1956, he accepted a role at Kemper Insurance before changing paths and accepting a position with the Gillette Company in 1960. While with Gillette, Bill achieved great success and formed life-long friendships. He remained a steadfast employee for 34 years, retiring in 1994 as Senior Vice President of Administration.
In addition to his prolific career, Bill was active in several local organizations. He served as a Blessed Sacrament School board member and finance chair, working hard to expand class offerings through the 8th grade. He also served as President of Arts Boston and was a valued member of the Bunker Hill Community College Board of Directors, the Black Achievers Commission, and the Tall Ships Commission. Bill was an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox and enjoyed golf, skiing, classical music, and spending days at the beach with his grandchildren.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend Bill's visitation on Tuesday, April 15th, 2025, from 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm in the James H. Delaney & Son Funeral Home, 48 Common Street, Walpole.
A Mass of Christian Burial that will be celebrated on Wednesday, April 16th, 2025, in the Blessed Sacrament Church, 10 Diamond Street, Walpole, at 12:00 PM. Interment will follow at Saint Francis Cemetery in Walpole
