William P. MacPhee, age 81, passed away in the Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts on Saturday, June 1, 2019. Born in Boston, Massachusetts on December 26,
1937, he was the son of the late Joseph and Jeanette (MacDougall) MacPhee. He was raised in the Jamaica Plain area of Boston, graduating from Mission High School with the Class of 1955. Following graduation, Bill worked various jobs, enlisted in the Army National Guard in 1959, and began his studies at Stonehill College where he earned his bachelor’s degree in History in 1962.
Bill met his soon to be wife, Barbara J. Madden, by chance one evening at a dance they were both attending. The young couple quickly fell in love and they were married on November 6,
1965 in Holy Name Church in West Roxbury. Together, they made their home in Dorchester, where Bill and Barbara welcomed their four children. Bill took a position with the Aetna Company, where he worked for several years. In addition to this full-time position, Bill stayed with the National Guard and was based primarily out of the Commonwealth Armory, serving as a medic
In 1971, Bill moved his family to Walpole, Massachusetts, wanting to provide more space for his children to thrive in.
Bill changed his career path in 1982, taking a position with the United States Postal Service in
their Brookline Village Post Office. A few years later, he retired from the Army National
Guard, having served over 20 years and having earned the rank of Major. He continued working at the Post Office until his retirement in 2002.
In his retirement years, Bill enjoyed staying active, both mentally and physically. As an intellectually curious person and avid reader, Bill kept his mind sharp. Most of all, he loved being in his home, surrounded by his family and friends.

Loving father of Jennifer MacPhee of Walpole, Paul M. MacPhee and his wife, Joyce, of Whitman, Elizabeth S. Aldred and her husband, David, of Brentwood, New Hampshire, and the
late John Winston MacPhee.
Cherished grandfather of Kelsey Whittier, Stephen Whittier, Samuel Aldred, Benjamin Aldred, William MacPhee, and Daniel MacPhee.
Brother of Joseph MacPhee and his wife, Carol, of Wellesley and the late John W. MacPhee.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend Bill’s Life Celebration on Thursday, June 6, 2019 from 4-8 PM and Friday, June 7, 2019 from 9 to 9:30 AM in the James H. Delaney & Son Funeral Home, 48 Common Street, Walpole. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Blessed Sacrament Church, 10 Diamond Street, Walpole on Friday, June 7, 2019 at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow in Saint Francis Cemetery in Walpole.
