William James MacKinnon, age 68, passed away in the Norwood Hospital in Norwood, Massachusetts on Sunday, August 19, 2018. Born in Boston, Massachusetts on August 17, 1950, he was the son of the late William A. and Anna (Kazmier) MacKinnon. He was raised in Norwood, Massachusetts and graduated from Norwood High School with the Class of 1968. Bill enlisted in the United States Navy in 1969, proudly serving his country during the Vietnam War. He completed two tours of duty during the war and was honorably discharged in January of 1973, after earning the rank of Aviation Boatswain's Mate Second Class. Upon his discharge, Bill returned to Massachusetts, making his home in Wrentham and working various carpentry jobs.
Bill married his wife, Carol A. Hurd, on January 8, 1977 in Saint Mary's Church in East Walpole. The couple made their home together in Norton and Bill took a bartending position with Whitingtons in town. In 1982, Bill moved his family to Foxborough and began working as an installer for Preview T.V. in Norwood. Two years later, Bill and his family settled in Walpole and in 1985, Bill took a position with the United States Postal Service in the Walpole, Massachusetts Main Post Office. After living in East Walpole since 1986, Bill made his most recent home in Foxborough in the mid-1990s. He continued working at the Walpole Post Office for 33 years, where he helped countless citizens as a clerk at the window in the lobby.
Throughout his life, Bill enjoyed spending time outdoors. He loved hiking, flying in ultra-light planes, skiing, and always looked forward to his yearly camping trip at Scusset Beach. Back at home, Bill enjoyed visiting antique and classic car shows and watching his favorite Western Movies and the Three Stooges. Most of all, Bill loved spending time with his family and friends.

Loving father of William R. MacKinnon of Foxborough and Megan A. MacKinnon of Millis.
Cherished grandfather of Keira L. MacKinnon.
Brother to his twin sister, Barbara Knights and her husband Richard of Wellesley and Maryann Smith and her husband Bradford of Foxborough.
Also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend Bill's Life Celebration on Friday, August 24, 2018 from 4 to 7 PM in the James H. Delaney & Son Funeral Home, 48 Common Street, Walpole. A Funeral Home Service will be held on Saturday, August 25, 2018 at 11:00 AM. Interment will be private at the request of Bill's family.
