William L. Cotter

June 14, 1919 — November 1, 2009

William L. Cotter age 90 years died in the Victoria Haven Nursing Home in Norwood, Massachusetts on Sunday, November 1, 2009. Born in Cambridge, Massachusetts on June 14, 1919; he was the son of the late John W. and Adeline D. (Hickey) Cotter. He served his country during World War II in the United States Army Signal Corps. He has been a resident of Norwood, Massachusetts for the past 49 years, moving from Quincy, Massachusetts.

He worked for the New England Telephone Company for 35 years, retiring in 1984. He also worked for Dion Real Estate as a broker for 30 years.

Mr. Cotter was a member of the Bell Tel Retirees.

Beloved husband of Dorothy O. (Wambolt) Cotter. Devoted father of Alan Cotter of San Francisco, CA, William L. Cotter, Jr. and his wife Eleanor of Peabody, Christine M. and her husband James Moran of Stoughton, Patricia A. and her husband Robert Powers of New Fane, VT, and Debra J. and her husband David Blanchard of Littleton, CO. Survived by 9 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial that will be celebrated at Saint Timothy's Church 655 Nichols Street Norwood on Friday, November 6, 2009 at 10:00 AM. Visiting hours are Thursday, November 5, 2009 from 4-8PM in the James H. Delaney & Son Funeral Home 48 Common Street Walpole. Interment is in Highland Cemetery in Norwood, Massachusetts. Memorial donations may be made to: Alzheimer's Association Massachusetts Chapter 311 Arsenal Street Watertown, MA 02472 or the charity of your choice.
