William F. Boozang (Bill), 88 of Walpole (MA) was granted his heavenly rest on January 17th, 2024. Born in New Haven to William and Mary (Gallagher) Boozang; Bill and Sheila, his wife of 65 years, raised their family in Groton and Stratford (CT) before enjoying a blissful retirement in St. Augustine (FL).
Bill was a very proud graduate of Boston College (BS) and University of Hartford (MBA), an officer in the US Coast Guard - Galveston Station, and retired from Dresser Industries after a 35-year career in manufacturing management. He found lifelong joy in music, lending his tenor to church choirs and his barbershop group, The Melody Men of Trumbull. Bill possessed a love of reading, listening to jazz and big band, and viewing a good WWII documentary. He was a man of unwavering Christian faith with a deep love of his parish communities of St. James (Stratford, CT) and St. Anastasia (St. Augustine, FL). Bill possessed a thoughtful demeanor, invested in friends new and old, and strove for a life of moderation. He was unassuming, never seeking the center of attention. His kindness and generosity manifested in regular acts for which he’d prefer no recognition.
He took great pride in the family that he and Sheila (Burke) raised: Kathleen Boozang of Dennis MA, Maureen Boozang-Hill (Randy) of Ossining NY, Patricia Boozang (Thomas Nedell) of Medfield MA, and William Boozang (Jane) of Franklin MA. Bill adored his grandchildren Meaghan, Catherine, Emma, Jack, Molly, Liam, Will, Sarah, Mairead, and his great-granddaughter, Angelina. He is also survived by his sisters-in-law, Imelda Boozang (Suffield, CT) and Micki Hubbard (Hamden, CT), nieces and nephews, and predeceased by his beloved twin Bob, sister Joyce, and nephew Bobby.
A celebration of life will take place at 11AM on February 2nd at St. Cecilia Parish, Boston. A reception will follow, to which family and loved ones are warmly invited.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Bill’s name to Disabled American Veterans (https://www.dav.org/ways-to-give/) or Home Again (https://bit.ly/hasjdonate).
Arrangements by James H. Delaney & Son Funeral Home, Walpole.
