Wilfred Joseph Sheehan, Sr. in his 100th year died on Friday, February 29, 2008. Born in Canton, Massachusetts on June 18, 1908 to his parents William & Mary (Murphy) Sheehan, he graduated from Walpole High School with the class of 1926. Mr. Sheehan was a life long resident of Walpole.
He worked as the chief methods engineer for the Bird Machine Company retiring in 1963 with 47 years of service.
He was cited for his contribution to the Manhattan Project ending World War II.
Mr. Sheehan was a member of ARRL, the Walpole Country Club, a Walpole call firefighter, and was a member of the Walpole Civil Defense
He was an avid golfer, aviator, inventor and was a ham radio operator.
Beloved husband of the late Hazel I. (LaMarche) Sheehan. Loving father of Beverly A. Axford of Ormond Beach, FL and Wilfred J. Sheehan of Cape Cod. Cherished grandfather of 5 and great grandfather of 9 Brother of Edward Sheehan of Foxboro.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend the Funeral Mass that will be celebrated at Blessed Sacrament Church East Street (Route 27) at Diamond Street Walpole on Wednesday, March 5, 2008 @ 10:00 AM.
