Wesley Russell Goodwin, age 90, passed away in the Hebrew Rehabilitation Center, Roslindale, Massachusetts, on Saturday, October 31, 2015.
"Buddy "was born on June 24, 1925, the third of four sons of Wesley James Goodwin and Jesse Ella (Bursey) of Newfoundland, Canada. He is predeceased by brothers Warren and Marshall. He attended West Roxbury/Boston schools and served in the United States Navy as an Electrician's Mate working on landing craft in Manila during WWII.
On March 3rd 1951, at a sunset service in the West Roxbury Congregational Church, he married Mina May (Watt) also of West Roxbury.
After living for a short time in Dedham, MA, they bought a home in Walpole, MA, in 1953, where they raised their family. Together they have five children, five grandsons and two great-grandsons.
Mr. Goodwin was a longtime member of the Azure Lodge A.F. & A.M. Walpole, progressing to the office of Worshipful Master. He was also a "lifetime" member of Foxborough Country Club, where he passionately enjoyed golfing with his fellow seniors, sons, daughter, son-in-law and daughter-in-law. Even earning a coveted hole-in-one. Mr. Goodwin was a Member of the American Legion Post 83 in Lincoln, New Hampshire and a Life Member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks (BPOE) in Norwood.
Mr. Goodwin is survived by his loving wife of sixty-four years, Mina, his brother W. Leonard Goodwin of South Dennis, MA. Most loved father of Warren P. Goodwin and wife Maria (Capone), Scott D. Goodwin and wife Nancy (Kane), Wesley R. Goodwin, Jr. and wife Susan (McGrath), Eric J. Goodwin, and Donna M. Migdal and husband Michael. Proud Grampy of Adam and wife Kelly and Joshua Migdal and wife Kristina and Wesley, Colin, and Scott Goodwin. Great-Grampy of Reese and Riley Migdal. Uncle Bud to many loving nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend Mr. Goodwin's Life Celebration on Sunday, November 8, 2015 from 2-5PM in the James H. Delaney & Son Funeral Home, 48 Common Street, Walpole. A graveside service will be held in Knollwood Memorial Park on High Street in Canton on Monday, November 9, 2015 at 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Charity of Your Choice.
