Wesley Edwin Cooke

Mr. Wesley Edwin Cooke, Jr. age 90 years died in Charlwell House Nursing Home Norwood, Massachusetts on Friday, August 14, 2009, Born in Bayonne, New Jersey on May 7, 1919 the son of Wesley E. and Ethel (O'Brien) Cooke,Sr. and step son of Otto Werle. A 1936 graduate of Union High School in Union New Jersey, he attended Seton Hall Univeristy for 2 years. He cut his college career short to enter the United States Army, where he served as a First Lieutenant during both World War II and Korea. He spent over 10 years serving his country.

A resident of Walpole for the past 25 years moving here from Westwood

Mr. Cooke retired from the Prudential Insurance Company , Boston, Massachusetts as a District Manager, with 44 years of Service there.

A Life member of Order of the Purple Heart, a Life Member of the Disable American Veterans (National Chapter). He enjoyed woodworking, creating stain glass with his wife Maude , painting, and playing golf at Royal Crest in Walpole in his younger day he was an avid fly fisherman

Beloved husband of Maude E.(Burns) Cooke and the late Dorothy M. (Ferguson) Cooke Loving father of Raymond W.and his wife Jessica Cooke of Bangor, ME, Larry A. and his wife Leslie Cooke of Sheridan, Wy, Step father of Nancy E. Schofield of Mansfield, Anne E. Silva of Sandwich, Patricia and her husband Dennis Mattson of Bellingham, Elizabeth M. and her husband Arnold Holmes of Sandwich, Russel and his wife Janet Birtwistle of Powder Hill , GA and John G. and his wife Debra Birtwistle of Leonardtown, MD. Cherished grandfather of Jaime Cooke of Bangor, ME Step Grandfather of 15 and great grandfather of 25 Brother of Constance Blashfield of Keybank, NJ and brother in law Frank Ferguson of Summit, NJ. Also survived by numerous cousins, nieces and nephews

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend the Funeral Service to be held in The Grace Epispocal Church Chapel Street Norwood on Tuesday, August 18, 2009 @ 10AM. Visiting hours are Monday, August 17, 2009 5pm to 8pm in the James H. Delaney & Son Funeral Home 48 Common Street Walpole . Interment Westwood Cemetery, Westwood, Massachusetts. .
