Walter Norman Holmquist age 80 years died in the Faulkner Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts on Friday, May 23, 2008. Born in Boston, Massachusetts he graduated from Dorchester High School. Upon completion he joined the United States Navy and proudly served his country during World War II. He had been living on Cape Cod for the past 28 years moving from Norwood, Massachusetts.
He worked for the United States Government as a forklift operator in a warehouse.
Mr. Holmquist was a member of the National Active and Retired Federal Employees Association, the Sandwich Senior Citizens where he was the past president, and the Vasa Lodge.
He enjoyed railroads, and spending time with his cat Whiskers.
Devoted son of the late Ivar Nickolai and Elsa M. (Karlsson) Holmquist. Brother of Ivar Holmquist of VA and Shirley McLellan of Norwood. Also survived by 9 nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend the funeral service that will be held in the First Lutheran Church 1663 Main Street Barnstable on Wednesday, May 28, 2008 at 11AM.
