Walter C. Chapman, Jr., age 97 years, died in the Maples Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Wrentham, Massachusetts on Tuesday, January 14, 2014. Born in Roslindale, Massachusetts on September 8, 1916, he was the son of the late Walter C. and Augusta (Koob) Chapman. He has been a resident of the Village at Willow Crossing in Mansfield for the past 14 years, moving there from Wareham and Ft. Myers, Florida.
Walter owned and operated Elen Esta TV Sweets for over 20 years, retiring in 1976. In addition, he had previously owned and operated Cott Bottling Distributorship and Endicott Circle Grocery and Gas.
As an avid sportsman, he enjoyed playing golf after his retirement and was always proud of sinking a hole in one at the age of 89. He was a wonderful gardener, who always took pride in caring for his property and fruit trees. He also enjoyed spending time at his beach home in Wareham, where he would fish from his boat and have his family come to visit and stay with him.
Beloved husband of 74 years of Esther G. (Petersen) Chapman. Loving father of Rosalind Sedgwick and her husband Thomas of Walpole and Christine Lupien and her husband Ralph of Lake Havasu City, AZ. Cherished grandfather of Pamela Richard, Alan and Jeffrey Sedgwick, and Cynthia Lupien. Brother of the late Grace Burnett.
