Vincent A. Panettiere age 68 years died in the Norwood Hospital in Norwood, Massachusetts on Wednesday, May 25, 2011. Born in the Bronx, New York on August 23, 1942; he was the son of the late Honorable James A. and his wife Victoria C. (Falco) Panettiere. He graduated from Sacred Heart High School in New York and from Fordham College. He later earned his Law Degree from Fordham College. Mr. Panettiere proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He was a 1st Lieutenant in the Adjutant General Corps, and was stationed in Aberdeen, Maryland. He has been a resident of Norfolk for the past 40 years moving there from New Milford, Connecticut.
Most recently, Mr. Panettiere worked as the Human Resources Director at Varian in Gloucester, and retired after 17 years. Previously he worked as the Regional Zone Manager for John Hancock in Boston. When he was living in Connecticut, he was working from General Electric in Bridgeport.
He was very active in the Town of Norfolk and was a member of the Norfolk Lions Club, and previously held positions on Advisory Board, Finance Committee, and the Personnel Board. He recently became active in the Norfolk Senior Center.
Mr. Panettiere enjoyed playing his saxophone and was a member of the Medway Marching Band. He also had an appreciation of old cars and enjoyed going to car shows. He was a talented woodworker, and made a variety of furniture. He was very passionate about History, especially the American Revolution.
He had been enjoying his retirement and spent time gardening and traveling, especially to Aruba.
Beloved husband of Beverly A. (Young) Panettiere. Loving father of Leigh A. Panettiere and her husband Christopher M. Mirra and their son Samuel of Somerville, Vincent A. Panettiere, Jr. of North Hollywood, CA, and James Y. Panettiere and his wife Kristina of Sherborn. Brother of Victoria Bassett and her husband Robert of Newtown, CT and James Panettiere and his wife Rosemary of Somers, NY. Cousin of Susan Barry and her husband Walter of Pleasantville, NY.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial that will be celebrated at Saint Jude's Church 86 Main Street Norfolk on Friday, May 27, 2011 at 10:00 AM. Visiting hours are Thursday, May 26, 2011 from 3-7PM in the James H. Delaney & Son Funeral Home 48 Common Street Walpole. Interment will be in the Norfolk Cemetery.
