Vincent Paul Dantuono

Vincent P. Dantuono, age 93, passed away peacefully in his Walpole, Massachusetts home on May 17, 2019, surrounded by his loving family. Born on June 17, 1925 in Boston, he was the son of the late James Dantuono and Philomena (Vioforo) Dantuono. Vincent was raised in West Roxbury and Roslindale, and was a member of the Roslindale High School Class of 1943. Before his graduation, Vincent enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 1943, proudly serving his country in World War II. Vincent served as a Corporal in the Asian-Pacific theater, flying Vought F4U Corsair fighter planes in Okinawa. After his honorable discharge in March of 1946, he continued his education at Boston University studying Business Administration.

 

Around this time in Vincent’s life, he joined the American Legion, where he met his future brother-in-law. It was in this manner that he met his future wife, Annette M. (McEleney) Dantuono. The two dated from 1951 until 1953, and were married at Sacred Heart Church in Roslindale on September 12, 1953. The young couple moved to Walpole in 1962 where they welcomed and raised their two daughters, Linda and Eileen. Vincent worked for the Teddy Snow Crop Company as a Sales Representative selling frozen foods, and later as a Sales Representative for the Boston Filter Company. After years of experience working in sales, Vincent and his friend, Bill McQueen, started their own coffee company, The New England Coffee Service, Inc. After years of hard work, Vincent retired in 1987 at the age of 62.

 

When he wasn’t hard at work, Vincent enjoyed socializing, whether it was as a member of the Knights of Columbus of Roslindale or the America Legion. He loved to talk, and was credited by members of both organizations with having a “golden arm” because of his impressive bowling abilities. Vincent stayed very active in his retirement, regularly spending time at the beaches in Cape Cod, spending five weeks every year at the Village Green Resort in South Yarmouth. He was a skilled carpenter in his spare time, once crafting a full size shed and making toolboxes with the local Cub Scouts. Vincent also built impressive dollhouses (complete with barns) for the young ones in his family. More than anything else, Vincent adored his four grandchildren, and he will be missed by all whose lives he touched.

Loving father of Linda Santos and her husband Ken of Marshfield, and Eileen Martin and her husband Steve of Walpole.
Cherished grandfather of Matthew Martin and his partner Jennifer, Kimberly Santos, Christina Bilodeau and her husband John, and Russell Santos.
Brother of the late William Dantuono, Marie Jacobs, and Eleanor Dantuono.

 

Services will be private at the request of Vincent’s family.
