Vina T. (Trant) Lang, age 92, passed away peacefully at her home on December, 8, 2018, as was her wish, surrounded by her loving family. She was predeceased by her husband, Bill of 51 years who passed in 2004.
Born in Woonsocket, Rhode Island on June 23,1926, she was the daughter of Joseph and Malvina (Trottier) Trant. She was raised in Rhode Island and graduated Valedictorian from Mount Saint Charles High School and continued her education at Saint Clare Academy. Upon graduation, Vina took a librarian’s position with the
Harris Institute in Rhode Island.
Vina married her beloved husband, Bill, on September 26, 1953 in Saint Charles Church, Woonsocket, RI. The young couple made their home in Norfolk, Massachusetts. Vina worked as an administrative assistant with Kendall Mills in Walpole. Once her children were grown, Vina returned to work at the Norfolk Public Library .She later took a position with the Wrentham Developmental Center managing the business office and was secretary to the steward, retiring in 1990.With those whom she worked, Vina was a consummate professional, an expert in her roles, respected for her skills, leadership, integrity and honored by all.
Vina was a long-time communicant of Saint Jude’s Church in Norfolk, where she was an original member of the Women’s Club and bowling league. She also took an active role on the Board of Directors of the Norfolk Federal Community Credit Union.
Throughout her life, she was an avid reader, gardener and traveler; delighting herself in seeking new adventures and once home, transforming herself into a storyteller.
She adored the sound of the ocean, the sun on her face, walking on the beach and getting her feet wet.
.
She had an appetite for a good laugh (many at the loving expense of her pre-deceased husband Bill’s puns and humor), dancing, swimming and meeting new friends from every walk of life.
Engaging Vina in a game of cards was another unsung talent and trust us, she fooled many with that unassuming twinkle in her eye. She always had the winning hand.
One would also be remiss if we did not mention her beloved Patriots. Friends and family learned to never, under any circumstances call on Patriots game day. She loved her Pats and especially Tom Brady known as the “Second Coming” in the Lang house. In her eyes, he never had a bad game - and trust us, one knew this was not open for debate.
Beloved wife of the late Bill Lang.
Loving mother of Kathleen Lang of Norfolk, MA, Elizabeth Lang-Holmes and her husband Scott of Hardwick, MA, and William Lang and his wife Pamela of
North Dartmouth, MA.
She especially loved her role as Nana and was cherished by her grandchildren, Timothy, Matthew and Stephanie Lang all of North Dartmouth
.
Predeceased by her nine siblings: Alice, Florence, Dorothy, Eleanor, Mary, Joe, Bill, Jim and John. Survived by many loving nieces, nephews, in-laws, neighbors and friends whom she loved and was touched deeply by their kindnesses throughout the years. We especially want to warmly thank Beth Budny for her weekly visits and spiritual guidance. Also, Old Colony Hospice gave mom and our family daily ongoing and loving support when mom and our family needed it most.
