Vijai Kacker

Vijai Kacker, age 84, died at the Harrington House (Transitional Care and Rehabilitation) in Walpole, Massachusetts on Monday, October 29, 2012. Born in Mainpuri, India, she graduated as an Economics major from Lucknow University (India) in 1947, and went on to do her Masters in Sociology from Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi (India) in 1965.

While her husband was pursuing his doctorate from Michigan State University, Mrs. Kacker worked as a language instructor, teaching Hindi at Michigan State in 1966-67.

After residing in India from 1970 to 1981, Mrs. Kacker moved back to the US with her husband and lived in Norwood, Walpole, and thereafter in Sharon, MA. As a homemaker, she enjoyed cooking, gardening, and spending time with her grandchildren and family. She was a regular participant at the Sharon Community Center, involved in discussions on Indian culture and cooking.

Beloved wife of Madhav Kacker. Loving mother of Rita and her husband Neeraj Khanna of Walpole and Ravi Kacker and his wife Anisha of Sharon. Cherished grandmother of Ila Khanna, Avni Kacker and Aruni Kacker.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend the visiting hours on Wednesday October 31st from 5 a'" 7pm in the James H. Delaney and Son Funeral Home 48 Common Street, Walpole. Cremation will take place at the Newton Cemetery Crematorium in Newton, MA on Thursday, November 1st at 9.30am.
