Victor A. Serena, age 91, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 21, 2015. Born in Boston, Massachusetts on May 24, 1924, he was the son of the late Roger and Anna (DiGiovanni) Serena. He was raised in Hyde Park and graduated from Hyde Park High School with the class of 1943. While in high school and shortly after, Victor worked along side his father in Rogers Market, located in Cleary Square. Victor continued his education at Northeastern University and later at the Vespa George School of Art in Boston.
In January of 1945, he was inducted into the United States Army, where he proudly served his country during World War II. He was stationed in the US with the 1255 SCU serving as a general clerk. He was honorably discharged in July of 1946, after attaining the rank of Corporal.
Victor married the love of his life, Mary D. Lippolis, on June 4, 1950 in Saint Mary's Church in East Walpole. Together they made their home in Norwood before settling in East Walpole in 1960.
He spent his working career as a draftsman and designer in the HVAC field, working for several engineering firms. He was instrumental in the development and installation of the First Alert Anti Ballistic Missile Systems for the US. Victor retired from Stone and Webster in 1986.
As a proud Army Veteran, Victor was a Life Member of the DAV Chapter 90 in Norwood, where he had served as Commander. In addition, he served as the Junior Vice Commander for the DAV of Massachusetts. Victor was also a member of the National Order of Trench Rats, Dugout #103 and he was an active member of the Walpole Senior Center. As a young man, he enjoyed golfing and later he began picking up bowling and billiards. He loved working with his hands and as a talented carpenter, he took on various projects around his home.

Loving father of Victor A. Serena, Jr and his wife Jeanne, Frank Serena and the late Jeffrey P. Serena.
Cherished grandfather of Amy Hartley and Alexander Serena and great grandfather of Izzabella, Olivia, Abigail, and Mitchell.
Brother of Josephine Giannangelo and Gloria Papsis.
Also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend Victor's Life Celebration on Tuesday, August 25, 2015 from 4-7 PM and Wednesday, August 26, 2015 from 9-9:30 AM in the James H. Delaney & Son Funeral Home, 48 Common Street, Walpole. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Saint Mary's Church, 176 Washington Street, East Walpole on Wednesday, August 26, 2015 at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow in Saint Francis Cemetery in Walpole. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to: DAV Department of Massachusetts, State House, Room 546, Boston, MA 02133.
