Ved Prakash Gupta, age 76, passed away in his Walpole, Massachusetts home on Wednesday, October 10, 2018, surrounded by his loving family, after a 27-year battle with multiple sclerosis. Born in Moradabad, India on May 15, 1942, he was the son of the late Ram Saran Das and Chandramukhi Devi. He was raised and educated in India, earning his professional degree in Mechanical Engineering.
Ved married his beloved wife, Pramila, on November 10, 1968 in Gomat, India. He then emigrated to the United States in 1970, working as a mechanical engineer designing pipe systems for nuclear power plants around the country.
Ved positively impacted the lives of so many with his caring, thoughtful, and embracing approach to life and all of those around him. One of his proudest achievements was helping to establish the Bal Niketan School for impoverished children in India. He loved music, Pramila's cooking, his family, and a good conversation. He taught us all how important it is to stay close to and support those we meet in life despite distances and distractions. He was the first to pick up the phone or write a letter just to say hello or to offer a helping hand. He also taught us about strength, dignity, and perseverance in the face of adversity, even in his final days.
Ved was the beloved husband of Pramila (Mital) Gupta.
Loving and proud father of Himanshu Gupta and his wife Rajika of North Reading, Shuchi Gupta of Walpole, and Shilpa Gorfine and her husband Daniel of Alexandria, Virginia.
Cherished grandfather of Arya Gupta, Jaya Gupta, Mira Gorfine, Asha Gorfine, and Talia Gorfine.
Devoted brother of Om P. Gupta of India, Satya P. Gupta of Austin, Texas, the late Devendra Gupta, the late Rajeshwari Gupta, and the late Krishna Gupta.
Also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
