Timothy F. Collins, Jr., age 94, passed away peacefully in the Walpole Healthcare Facility on Easter Sunday Morning, April 12th, 2020. Born in Lawrence, Massachusetts on October 5, 1925, he was the son of the late Timothy F. and Viola Rose (Martel) Collins. He was raised in the Hyde Park area of Boston, and graduated from Hyde Park High School with the Class of 1944.
Tim married his high school sweetheart and classmate, Alice T. Riordan, in 1945 and together they made their home in Hyde Park, and later in Dorchester, where they welcomed their eleven children. In 1966, Tim and Alice moved their large family to the small suburban town of Walpole, Massachusetts. Tim supported his family working for the New England Telephone Company. He was an active member of the Telephone Pioneers of America and after 38 dedicated years with the phone company, he retired as a foreman line assignor.
After settling in Walpole, Tim became an active member of Blessed Sacrament Church and the Knights of Columbus. While his work and faith were always important, Tim made sure he made time for some fun, spending days on various golf courses with his friends and family. He was a member of the original Walpole Country Club and in his later years, he enjoyed playing recreationally at Ponkapoag Golf Course. However most of all, Tim was dedicated to his family. He and Alice were married for 60 years, as Alice predeceased Tim in 2005. Their greatest pride and joy was the legacy they leave behind of having twenty-one grandchildren and thirty-three great grandchildren.

As a result of the ongoing health crisis in the world and our community and with genuine concern for the well-being of all involved, Tim’s family has decided that his visitation and funeral services will be private. Interment will take place in Saint Francis Cemetery in Walpole. A Memorial Mass at Blessed Sacrament Church in Walpole will be held when we return to calmer and healthier times. A Celebration of Life gathering will take place following the Mass.
