Thomas Wong, Jr.

July 10, 1948 — April 1, 2020

Thomas Wong, Jr., age 71, of Foxborough, Massachusetts, passed away in the Norwood Hospital on Wednesday, April 1, 2020, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Hong Kong on July 10, 1948, he was the son of the late Thomas and Sun Ngan “Diane” (Dai) Wong. He spent his early years in Hong Kong before immigrating to the United States of America with his family at the age of five. His family first made their home in Pawtucket then moved to Chicago, Illinois in 1954. They later settled in the South End of Boston in 1956. While living in Boston, Thomas attended Boston English and then Newman Preparatory School. Following his graduation in 1969, he continued his education at Massasoit Community College.

Thomas began his career working alongside his father at the family’s restaurant, Sun Luck, in Burlington. While working at Sun Luck, Thomas married his beloved wife, Annie Tam, on May 5, 1978 in Boston. The couple made their home together in Roslindale until they packed up and headed for Florida in 1984. Upon their arrival in Cudjoe Key, Thomas opened his own restaurant, Jade Dynasty, which he operated for two years. In 1987, Thomas and Annie moved their family back up the east coast, making their home for a short time in Dedham before settling in Walpole, Massachusetts. Thomas continued his career in the restaurant field, taking a position with Aku Aku in Boston, where he loved the opportunity to meet many great professional athletes. He went on to take a position with Finian’s Restaurant in Dedham, where he worked until 1999, when he had a career change and began working at The Home Depot in Norwood. In 2011, Thomas and Annie moved to Foxborough and five years later, in 2016, Thomas retired from The Home Depot.

In his spare time, when he wasn’t hard at work, Thomas enjoyed watching history documentaries and cheering for his beloved hometown teams, including the Patriots and the Red Sox. In his youth, he was an avid skier, runner, and basketball player. He was a man who cherished music, especially Motown, collecting many records over the years. Thomas also liked to collect many different items, including baseball cards, stamps, etc. He also loved taking his family on road trips around New England and Canada. Most of all, he loved being surrounded by those he held dear.

Beloved husband of Annie (Tam) Wong.
Loving father of Allen Wong of Foxborough, Andrea Wong of Foxborough, and Alexandra Wong of Boston.
