Thomas Kennedy Cleveland, age 91, passed away on December 25, 2023, at his home in Sharon, Massachusetts, surrounded by loving family. Tom was born to Olin and Rose Ellen (Kennedy) Cleveland in Norwood, Massachusetts on November 20, 1932.
Tom grew up in Sharon Massachusetts and attended Sharon public schools. He loved sports and played on the State championship high school basketball team.
After graduation from high school, Tom joined the Army and later returned to Sharon to work for the United States Postal Service. He worked at the Sharon Post office until retiring in 1989 after 37 years of service.
In 1959, Tom married Carolyn Mae Loring, a nursing student at the time. The two built a house in Sharon, minutes from Tom's work at the Post Office. Over the next 50 years, Tom and Carolyn raised 4 children in their modest home on Tolman street. The two were devoted to their family and spent many family vacations in the mountains of New Hampshire. Tom was an avid Boston sports fan, loved to bowl and play softball, and encouraged his kids to participate in sports as he had. He even learned to play golf later in life. He never missed an opportunity to attend or watch any sporting event, and he was over the moon when the curse of the Bambino was extinguished in 2004.
Tom was also a woodworker and made many “Tom Cleveland Pieces” in his basement shop for family and friends.
After retirement and with the kids moved away from home, Tom and Carolyn began traveling. They spent many weeks traveling to National parks in the west including the Grand Canyon, the Navajo nation, Brice Canyon and others. Other trips included sunny San Diego, Pass-a-Grille, Florida, Alaska, Ireland, Italy, Paris, the Bahamas, and many other destinations.
Tom's beloved wife Carolyn passed away in 2008. His oldest son Thomas O. Cleveland passed away in 2022. Tom leaves behind his beloved children Robin, Kellie, and son Paul together with their respective spouses, Bill Mongeon, Sean Flaherty, and Heather Cleveland. Also, Siobhan Geoghegan, surviving wife of Thomas O. Cleveland, and the late Peter Cleveland and his surviving wife Sara. Tom is also survived by his nephew, George Cleveland.
