Sylvester L. Ramsdell age 89 years died in the Renaissance Gardens Nursing and Rehabilitation Center at Linden Pond in Hingham, Massachusetts on Wednesday, November 3, 2010. Born in Boston, Massachusetts on August 26, 1921; he was the son of the late Sylvester and Marion (Mann) Ramsdell. He graduated from Brighton High School with the class of 1939. He served his country as a Corporal in the United States Army during World War II. Mr. Ramsdell has been a resident of Walpole, Massachusetts since 1952 moving from West Roxbury.
He was the Vice President of Knoll Contracting Company in Needham, and later retired from J.C. Construction and Plumbing in Watertown in 1988. He was a member of the Local #7 Plumber Union and was a member of the Masons
Mr. Ramsdell enjoyed playing golf; gardening, especially growing vegetables; photography; and watching high school football and hockey games.
Beloved husband of Doris B. (Anderson) Ramsdell. Loving father of Donna D. Newbower of Acton, Paul M. Ramsdell of Framingham, Roy Ramsdell of Norwood and the late Alan L. Ramsdell. Cherished grandfather of David Newbower of Boston, Daniel Newbower of LA and Great grandfather of Isadora Marie Newbower and Elsa Violette Newbower. Brother of Arthur Ramsdell of Somerville, Madeline Myatt of Attleboro, the late Beatrice Fitzgerald and the late Roy Ramsdell.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend the visiting hours on Monday morning from 11AM a'" 12Noon in the James H. Delaney & Son Funeral Home 48 Common Street Walpole. A funeral service will be held in the Union Congregational Church 55 Rhoades Avenue E. Walpole Monday at 1PM. Interment is private.
