Susan McCready (Bullard) Gallant, age 77, passed away unexpectedly on February 3, 2025, at her home in East Walpole, Massachusetts. Born in Boston, Massachusetts on September 24, 1947, she was the daughter of Robert and Edythe (Belmont) Bullard. Su was raised in Dedham where she attended the local schools. After her graduation from Dedham High School with the class of 1966, Su began a career at Norfolk County Trust. During this time, Su would meet and marry Alan Dalrymple. The pair welcomed two children, Dawn and Sharyn, before Alan's untimely passing.
In 1974, Su was introduced to Mike Gallant through mutual friends. The pair were an instant match. On September 20, 1975, Su and Mike were wed in Saint Theresa's Church in West Roxbury, Massachusetts. The pair had worked hard to save money which allowed them to purchase and move into a home in East Walpole, Massachusetts, just a few weeks prior to their wedding. Their family of four grew to a family of five just a few short years later with the addition of their son David.
Su enjoyed being a mother and was very involved with all of the children’s activities. As a home maker she ensured the household ran smoothly and everyone got to where they needed to be. Su returned to work once the children had grown, taking a position in the cafeteria for the Fisher School. This was a perfect position for Su - the children of Walpole were lucky, as she was a fantastic cook! She had mastered many recipes over the years, including Mike's grandmothers Portuguese Kale Soup recipe.
At home, Su could often be found relaxing with a jigsaw puzzle and one of her beloved pets. Su was a jigsaw puzzle enthusiast, having over thirty on hand at any time to choose from, and swapping with friends. She loved animals and had multiple pets over the course of her life, most recently a beautiful tortie cat named Baby. Su had a love for real country music - the likes of Merle Haggard, Willie Nelson, and Patsy Cline. She also enjoyed crime dramas like NCIS and Law and Order.
In her free time, Su enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She was a loving mother and was thrilled when she became a grandmother. Su was a vibrant woman, who loved meeting people and making friends. Her warm personality made it easy to love her and want to get to know her. In the summers Su and Mike would host a big cook out, inviting all their friends to join them for an afternoon of good food and even better memories. On Saturday nights when they were younger, Su enjoyed heading to Seekonk or Lakeville to watch the races, often cheering on Mike as he drove in them. In later years, their love of fast cars would evolve to a love of fast motorcycles - with Mike driving and Su riding on the back, enjoying the breeze. The pair built friendships within a motorcycle club based out of Connecticut in the early 2000's, hitting the open road together for regular meets and events.
Beloved wife of Michael F. Gallant and the late Alan W. Dalrymple.
Loving mother of Dawn Kalen and her husband John of Ocala, Florida, David Gallant of Ocean Springs, Mississippi, and the late Sharyn Myers.
Cherished grandmother of seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Also survived by many extended relatives and friends.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend Su's visitation on Sunday, February 9th, 2025, from 1:00 - 4:00 pm in the James H. Delaney & Son Funeral Home, 48 Common Street, Walpole.
Interment will be private.
