Sigmund Anthony "Ziggy" Capachin age 83 years, surrounded by loving family members, died in the Parish Medical Center in Titusville, Florida on Thursday, January 19, 2012. Born in Norwood, Massachusetts on May 10, 1928, he was the son of the late Anthony C. and Anna (Lukacewicz) Capachin. He graduated from the Norfolk County Agricultural High School with the class of 1947. He was a lifelong resident of Walpole, Massachusetts and enjoyed wintering in Florida.
Mr. Capachin owned and operated his own contracting company, S.A. Capachin, Inc., for 35 years. In addition he was a Licensed Nursing Home Administrator from 1984 a'" 1990 and owned Maples Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Wrentham, MA since 1959.
Motorhome enthusiast since 1969, Ziggy found much happiness behind the wheel and on the road again with his copilot. He was a member of Family Motor Coach Association, FMCA Northeastern and Yankee Travelers, past member of Blue Bird and Vintage Bird Clubs, member of the Parliament Travel Club, the Vogue Vantare Club and the Wild Bunch. Their travels took them to 49 states including Alaska and all but one Province of Canada as well as to Mexico several times.
Beloved husband of his high school sweetheart Caroline F. (Turner) Capachin. Loving father of James E. Capachin and his wife Linda of Pascoag, RI, Glenn C. Capachin and his wife Jeanne of Norfolk, Jodi A. Pflum and her husband Jeffrey of Wrentham, Terri L. Wade and her husband John of Walpole and the late Scott A. Capachin. Cherished grandfather, teacher, traveling companion, encourager, confidant, role model, and beloved friend of 8: Samantha Capachin Miller; Christopher, Emily, and Benjamin Pflum; Sigmund A. Capachin II and Lucas Capachin; Michelle and Kirsten Wade; and great grandfather of 2: Michael and Taylor Miller. Brother of Mary Ann LaCivita of Deerfield Beach, Fl, Dorothy R. Capachin of East Walpole and Joseph E. Capachin of Wrentham.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial that will be celebrated at Blessed Sacrament Church East Street (Route 27) at Diamond Street Walpole on Thursday, January 26, 2012 at 10AM. Visiting hours are Wednesday from 4-8PM in the James H. Delaney & Son Funeral Home 48 Common Street Walpole. Interment will be in Saint Francis Cemetery in Walpole.
