Shirley Sherkus age 97 years died in the Norwell Knoll Nusring Home in Norwell, Massachusetts on Saturday, July 7, 2012. Born in Norwood, Massachusetts on July 21, 1914, she graduated from Walpole High School with the class of 1932. She was a lifelong resident of Walpole, Massachusetts.
Miss Sherkus worked as a clerk at the Kendall Mills Company in Walpole until she retired in 1979 wih 45 years of service. She was a member of the Curity Club at Kendall Mills.
She was a communicant of Blessed Sacrament Church in Walpole.
Devoted daughter of the late James and Cecelia (Saboites) Sherkus. Sister of the late Julia R. Mather and Alice K. Hennessey. Cherished aunt of June M. and her husband Robert Freedman of Hingham and the late George A. Mather, III and his wife Shirley Mather of Foxboro. Grand Aunt of Lisa and her husband Jan Springer, Robin and her husband Doug Cote, Rana Freedman, Jeremy and his wife Erin Freedman and the late Ronald Mather. Great Grand Aunt of Jack, Matthew, Alysa, Amanda, and Shawn.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend the visiting hour on Wednesday, July 11, 2012 from 8:30 to 9:30 AM in the James H. Delaney & Son Funeral Home 48 Common Street Walpole. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Blessed Sacrament Church East Street (Route 27) at Diamond Street Walpole on Wednesday at 10:00 AM. Interment will be in Saint Francis Cemetery in Walpole. Memorial donations may be made to: Blessed Sacrament Church 10 Diamond Street Walpole, MA 02081.
