Shirley Josephine Richardson

Shirley Josephine (Haskins) Richardson, age 91, passed away in the Norwood Hospital on Tuesday, January 30, 2018. Born in Charlemont, Massachusetts on August 19, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Emory and Agnes (Dumas) Haskins. She was raised and educated in upstate New York.

Shirley married her beloved husband, Bernard J. Richardson, on June 8, 1946 and they initially made their home together in New York before settling in Walpole, Massachusetts in 1950. After welcoming her children, Shirley took on the role of a homemaker, raising and caring for her young family, in addition to working part time as a waitress. Once her children were grown, she took a job with Mar-El Distributors in South Walpole. She retired 28 years later but went on take a cashier's position with Walmart in Walpole.

In her spare time, Shirley loved shopping with her grandchildren and as she got older, she enjoyed shopping on QVC. In additions, she enjoyed her quiet time, coloring.

Loving mother of Pamela Freitas and her husband David of Foxborough, Nancy Bridges and her husband Harold of Franklin, Ann Duquette of Walpole, Susan Cowell and her husband Lawrence of Franklin, and the late Bernard J. Richardson, Jr. and his late wife, Claire.
Cherished grandmother of 18, great grandmother of 23, and great great grandmother of 2.
Sister of Robert Haskins of New York, Paulina Goates of Florida, the late Emory Haskins, Jr., the late Constance Slish, and the late Colleen Dehler.
Also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend Shirley's Life Celebration on Friday, February 2, 2018 from 4 to 7 PM in the James H. Delaney & Son Funeral Home, 48 Common Street, Walpole. A Funeral Home Service will be held on Saturday, February 3, 2018 at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow in Saint Francis Cemetery in Walpole.
