Shirley Anne Ierardo

Shirley Anne (Betro) Ierardo, age 79, died in the Charlwell House in Norwood, Massachusetts on Saturday, April 11, 2015. Born in Walpole, Massachusetts, she was the daughter of the late Andrew N. and Alice B. (Pagnini) Betro. She graduated from Walpole High School with the class of 1953. While in high school, Shirley was a member of the Field Hockey Team and was a member of both the Softball Team and the Drill Team through the CYO Program. After graduation, she earned employment with the New England Telephone Company in Walpole.

During the 1970's, Shirley became very active with the Girl Scouts and served as Scout Leader for many years. As her children grew older, she took a position with Betro Pharmacy in Walpole Center. As a devoted daughter, Shirley spent time caring for her mother as she got older.

In 1999, Shirley moved to Norwood and later took a position with Home Depot. She advanced her career at their location in Norwood, becoming head cashier.

She loved camping in Brewster, Massachusetts, enjoyed sewing, and was known for her cooking abilities. Most of all she loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Cherished grandmother of Michael, Matthew, and Melissa.
Sister of Sarah Blanchard of Charlestown, Joseph Betro and his wife Carol of East Walpole, Helen Howard and her husband Randolph of Walpole, Tina M. Betro and her husband James Lorusso of Wrentham, and the late Patricia A. Cisternelli.
Sister in law of Al Cisternelli of Walpole.
Also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend Shirley's Life Celebration on Tuesday, April 14, 2015 from 4-8PM in the James H. Delaney & Son Funeral Home, 48 Common Street, Walpole. Funeral Services and Interment will be private at the request of the family.
