Shirley F. (Sutherland) Famiglietti, age 83, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 3, 2022, at her home in Walpole, Massachusetts, with her loving family by her side. Born in Boston, Massachusetts on March 2, 1939, she was the daughter of the late Alexander F. and Helen D. (Schortmann) Sutherland. She was raised in Norwood, Massachusetts, where she attended Saint Catherine's School, before graduating from Norwood High School with the Class of 1956. Following her graduation, Shirley took a position with the Masoneilan Company in Norwood, working as a key punch operator.
Shirley married her beloved husband, Robert L. Famiglietti, on September 23, 1961, in Saint Catherine's Church in Norwood. Together, they made their home in Walpole and after welcoming their daughter, Lisa, Shirley took on the role of a homemaker, raising and caring for her family. As Lisa grew up, Shirley returned to her working career, taking a position with Dr. Mortada in Walpole, working as a medical secretary and then working with Associates in Internal Medicine in Norwood as Referral Coordinator. She retired in 2004 after many years of dedicated service to the doctors that she worked with and the patients she helped.
When she wasn't hard at work, Shirley looked forward to spending time at her home on Willett Pond in Walpole. She loved spending time with her Club friends enjoying all the pond had to offer. Shirley enjoyed her quiet time too, reading one of her favorite books, completing a knitting project, or working with ceramics. In more recent years, she and Bob loved spending the winter months in Englewood, Florida, escaping the cold and snow of New England. Most of all, Shirley loved being surrounded by her family, especially her grandchildren and she was excited to learn she was to become a great- grandmother for the first time.
