Sebastian L. Giampapa

December 22, 1929 — February 11, 2016

Sebastian L. Giampapa, age 86, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, February 11, 2016. Born in Boston, Massachusetts on December 22, 1929, he was the son of the late Sebastian and Elizabeth (Casale) Giampapa and was raised in Roslindale.

Sebastian proudly served his country in the United States Army at the end of World War II. He served in Panama, maintaining an anti-aircraft gun and was honorably discharged as a Private First Class in April of 1948. Upon his return from the Army, he enrolled and graduated from the Massachusetts Trades Shop School with the Class of 1951, with a focus on television repair.

On October 12, 1952, Sebastian married the love of his life, Phyllis A. Comeau, and together they made their home in Walpole, Massachusetts, where he lived for over 45 years, raising his 5 children. He began his career with General Electric as a repairman, where he worked until his retirement in 1987.

Sebastian was a member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks (BPOE) in Norwood, the Norwood American Legion, and was a 3rd Degree Member of the Knights of Columbus at Council 1319 in Walpole.

He enjoyed playing pool with the Elks League in Norwood and bowling at PJ's Lanes in Walpole on Thursday nights with friends. As an avid outdoorsman, he loved fishing as well as camping at Burlingame State Park in Rhode Island. He was famous for his singing talents and would regularly entertain his neighborhood from his own back yard. However, most important to Sebastian was his family. He and his wife loved traveling together and he looked forward to cooking for and spending time with his family on Sundays.

Beloved husband of the late Phyllis A. (Comeau) Giampapa.
Loving father of Linda Corn and her husband Don of Denver, CO, Catherine Hetu of Coventry, RI, the late Stephen Giampapa, Paul Giampapa of Dorchester, and John Giampapa and his wife Debbie of Walpole.
