Sean Brian Whelan, age 41, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, October 23, 2022, at Boston Medical Center in Boston, Massachusetts. Born in Wiesbaden, Germany on December 10, 1980, he was the son of Michael F. and Joanne P. (DeMiglio) Whelan. He spent much of his childhood in Midwest City, Oklahoma before settling with his family in Franklin, Massachusetts. While living in Franklin, Sean graduated from Franklin High School with the Class of 1999 and spent the following year in California. Upon his return home, Sean earned his associates degree from Massachusetts Bay Community College and was later accepted into the prestigious Technical Writing Program at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. Following his graduation from UMass in 2007, Sean began his career in the computer software field, working for companies including EMC, Computer Associates of America, and Teradyne.
After spending some time down south, Sean came back home to Massachusetts, making his home in Dedham, Massachusetts, before settling in Walpole to be close with his children, Charlie and Travis. Sean's life revolved around his two sons, regularly volunteering to serve as the coach of their soccer, basketball, and baseball teams. Even when he wasn't part of the coaching staff, Sean made sure to attend every game, enthusiastically cheering for his boys from the sidelines.
When Sean had a few minutes to himself, he enjoyed playing racquetball with his friends at the Hilton Inn in Dedham. As an avid fisherman, he also looked forward to taking off for an adventure with his boat in tow, looking for a great spot to cast his line.
