Ruth Camilla (Giandomenico) Robinson, age 66, passed away peacefully after a heroic 11-year battle with uterine cancer on Sunday, December 2, 2018, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Framingham, Massachusetts on December 18, 1951, she was the daughter of the late Leo and Celia (Yanco) Giandomenico. She was raised in Walpole, and graduated from Walpole High School with the class of 1969, where she enjoyed playing basketball, softball, and field hockey as one of the original Walpole Porkers. She continued her education at Graham Junior College in Boston, earning her medical assistant’s degree.
After graduating college Ruth began working and traveling with friends in her spare time. She took trips to Puerto Rico and Spain, where by chance she met her soon-to-be husband John F. Robinson. They were married a year later on May 12, 1973 in the Epiphany Episcopal Church in Walpole, and settled in Norwood where they welcomed their son, John Jr. “Jay”, in 1974. Ruth took on the role of a homemaker, and a few years later they made their home in Walpole and had their daughter, Jodi, in 1977. As Jay and Jodi grew older, Ruth returned to work part time and had a fulfilling career as a medical assistant for several orthopedic surgeons and dermatologists in Norwood until 2007.
Ruth was an avid sports fan, and especially loved following and attending sporting events for Walpole High School sports teams, the Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots. Her love for travel continued throughout her life as she looked forward to trips with her husband John to Florida, Bermuda, the Bahamas, New Hampshire, and Cape Cod.
Ruth’s family was her life’s passion and joy. She lovingly cared for her mother Ceil and stepfather, Alexander Koziol, and had incredibly close relationships with her many cousins, nieces and nephews. Even as her health declined, she persevered and was delighted at the birth of her five grandchildren, treasuring every minute she spent with her “cupcakes”. Ruth was immensely proud of her family and leaves behind countless beautiful memories and lessons of courage, grace and strength.
