Ruth F. Hanrahan

Ruth Frances (Kelly) Hanrahan age 89 years died in Amesbury Village in Amesbury, Massachusetts on Sunday, February 10, 2013. Born in Boston, Massachusetts on October 10, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Lawrence J. and Mary (McCullough) Kelly. She graduated from South Boston High School with the class of 1941 and went on to graduate from the Boston Business School with the class of 1943.

She was the Secretary to Govenor Tobin and Govenor Dever, served as a Probation Officer in Suffolk County, worked in administration for the Boston Police Department, and was an owner of Kelly's Landing in South Boston.

She enjoyed spending time at Silver Beach in Falmouth, playing golf, knitting, and playing cribbage. She was a member of the South Boston Mother's Club and the Castle Island Association.

Loving mother of Kevin M. Hanrahan of Sandown, NH and Steven Hanrahan of Pembroke. Cherished grandmother of 8. Pre deceased by 8 sisters and 5 brothers.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial that will be celebrated in Saint Gregory's Church 2223 Dorchester Avenue Dorchester on Friday, February 15, 2013 at 10:00 AM. Visiting hours are omitted at the request of the family. Interment will be in Saint Joseph's Cemetery in West Roxbury. Memorial donations may be made to: Alzheimer's Association 480 Pleasant Street Watertown, MA 02472. Arrangements by James H. Delaney & Son Funeral Home Walpole.
