Ruth L. Clark, age 94, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 20, 2021 in her East Walpole, Massachusetts home, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Gorham, Maine on July 16, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Perley H. Clark and Ida (Kelly) Pugh. She was raised in Gorham, where she attended Gorham High School. Prior to her graduation, Ruth left her academic studies, taking a position in a local box company, helping to support her mother and siblings.
In 1949, Ruth left her Gorham home, traveling to Massachusetts to make her home in East Walpole. After settling on Charlotte Road, Ruth quickly found work with Richard H. Klein and Company in Norwood, Massachusetts, where she was taught to weld. Ruth worked as a welder for thirty-six years before her retirement in 1985.
When she wasn't hard at work, Ruth enjoyed some quiet time in her home, crocheting, completing puzzles, figuring out the answers to various crossword puzzles, and catching up on her favorite television shows. As a talented musician, Ruth spent countless hours playing both the accordion and the organ. Most of all, Ruth remained most dedicated to her family. As a young woman, she took annual trips on a train to visit her family that settled in Ohio. Back at home, Ruth loved hosting family bar-b-ques in her backyard.
She is the devoted daughter of the late Perley H. Clark and Ida (Kelly) Pugh.
She is the sister of the late Phyllis Smith, the late Robert Clark, and the late Gordon Clark.
Ruth is survived by her niece and caretaker Patty and many loving nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend Ruth's visitation on Tuesday, January 26, 2021 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 Noon in the James H. Delaney & Son Funeral Home, 48 Common Street, Walpole.
As a result of the ongoing and ever developing health crisis in the world and with genuine concern for the people whom they love, Ruth's family has decided that her funeral service will be private, with interment taking place in Knollwood Memorial Park in Canton.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Kindred Hospice 130 Rumford Avenue, #211 Auburndale, MA 02466.
