Ruth M. Carter

Ruth M. (Carlson) Carter age 76 years died in Epoch of Norton on Tuesday, July 30, 2013. Born in Norwood, Massachusetts on June 12, 1937, she was the daughter of the late Gunar and Antoinette (Dornig) Carlson. She graduated from Norwood High School with the class of 1955 and later graduated from the Catherine LaBoure School of Nursing with the class of 1959. She has been a resident of Norton, Massachusetts for the past 10 years, wintering in Naples, Florida, and had previously lived in Walpole, Massachusetts for 41 years.

Ruth spent her working career as a Registered Nurse. She was employed by the Norwood Hospital and the Norfolk County Visiting Nurses Association. She retired in 2000 with 41 years of service.

She enjoyed playing cards, golfing, and cooking. She was an avid New England Sports fan and very much enjoyed Country Western Dancing with her husband. Most of all, she loved attending all of her grandchildren's activites.

Beloved wife of John J. Carter. Loving mother of John J. Carter, Jr. of Raynham, David G. Carter and his wife Gail of Plainville, Peter M. Carter and his wife Kristine of Walpole, Paul G. Carter and his wife Diane of Walpole, and Susan A. Burke and her husband Steven of Ashby. Cherished grandmother of Michelle, Nicole, Sarah, Jake, Kaitlin, Kimberly, Courtney, and Dylan. Sister of the late Arthur Carlson. Also survived by many loving cousins.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend Ruth's Life Celebration on Thursday from 4-8 PM and Friday from 8-8:30 AM in the James H. Delaney & Son Funeral Home 48 Common Street Walpole. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Saint Catherine of Siena Church in Norwood on Friday at 9AM. Interment will be in Highland Cemetery in Norwood.
