Russell F. Kittredge, age 68, passed away in the Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton, Massachusetts on Wednesday, December 02, 2015. Born in Norwood, Massachusetts on February 15, 1947, he was the son of the late Arthur F. and Helen I. (Howe) Kittredge. He was raised in Walpole, Massachusetts and graduated from Sharon High School with the class of 1966. After graduation, Russ began taking courses at Dean College focusing on photography. His education was interrupted by his service to his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged in 1970 and was retroactively awarded the Bronze Star for his actions in the Republic of Vietnam.
Upon his discharge from the Army, Russ settled in his hometown of Walpole, where he remained active in civil service. He was an auxiliary member of the Walpole Police Department and served as a volunteer firefighter and EMT. In addition to these part time positions in the Town of Walpole, Russ took a full time position as a clerk in the Radiology Department of Norwood Hospital. Not one to sit home, Russ also took a part time security guard position with Foxboro Stadium and later with Apollo Security in Walpole.
Russ married his wife, Marie, on September 25, 1993 in the Epiphany Episcopal Church in Walpole and they made their home together in Walpole. Russ retired from Norwood Hospital in 2002 and in 2004 Russ and Marie moved to Stoughton.
Even after moving to Stoughton, Russ still visited his hometown of Walpole often. He would regularly attend meetings at the Walpole VFW Post, where he had served as District Commander in 1993. While Walpole was important to Russ, he always looked forward to escaping for his summer vacation on Cape Cod.
Beloved husband of Marie A. (Mass) Kittredge.
