Rosemarie L. Sanford

Rosemarie (Romie) Sanford, age 76, passed away on January 14, 2013, following a brief illness. Born in North Andover, MA, on January 10, 1937, she was the daughter of Max and Elizabeth Lorenz. She had been a resident of Walpole since moving from Ohio in 1956 and a member of the Epiphany Parish for over 50 years. She graduated cum laude from Boston University with a bachelor's degree in psychology.

Mrs. Sanford was a devoted homemaker, raising and caring for her family. She was employed at various times, first to put her husband through college, and later as a bookkeeper for the Walpole Visiting Nurses Association, to put their two sons through college. She was an avid gardener, backyard naturalist, and environmental advocate. She was a member of the National Wildlife Federation and member and volunteer for the Massachusetts Audubon Society. She was also active in the Lake Warren Association in New Hampshire as a team leader, trustee, and secretary.

Beloved wife of Philip H. Sanford for 53 years. Loving mother of John P. Sanford and his wife Cara Sanford of Lancaster, MA, and Eric D. Sanford and his wife Jackie Sones of Sebastopol, CA. Sister of Elsie Wood of Walpole. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at the Epiphany Episcopal Church in Walpole on Saturday, February 23rd at 2:00 pm. A reception at the church will follow. Arrangements by James H. Delaney & Son Funeral Home.
