Ronald J. Foster, age 78, passed away peacefully in the Norwood Hospital in Norwood, Massachusetts on Tuesday, October 25, 2016, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Boston, Massachusetts on May 25, 1938, he was the son of the late Gerald R. and Eileen C. (Egan) Foster. He was raised in Dedham and graduated from Don Bosco Technical High School with the Class of 1957, where he attended his senior prom with his soon to be wife Ellen Dowling.
After graduation, Ron took a position with Shawmut Bank in Kenmore Square, working in the payroll department. He and Ellen were married on September 8, 1962 in the Sacred Heart Church in Roslindale. They made their home together in Roslindale before moving to West Roxbury in 1969. In 1973, Ron and Ellen settled in Walpole, Massachusetts to raise their young family. Ron moved up the corporate ladder at Shawmut Bank to retire as the Payroll Manager in 1994. While this marked his official retirement, Ron continued working for Fleet Bank in various positions through 2004.
Ron was a devoted member of Blessed Sacrament Church in Walpole for many years and spent countless hours volunteering for various causes and functions, including the annual Harvest Days festival. As an avid square dancer, he served as the president of the Do Si Doers in Walpole and loved traveling to Square Dancing Conventions across the United States. This led to his love for Country and later Irish Music. He could be found at the Norwood Senior Center quite often, but was always home in time to cheer on his beloved New England Patriots. Ron also enjoyed playing dominos or cards with friends. However, most of all, Ron was a dedicated family man. He truly loved hosting family events at his home in Walpole and as a devoted grandfather, cherished all the time that he was able to spend with his granddaughters.
Beloved husband of the late Kathleen Ellen Foster.
Loving father of Donna-Marie Hennessy and Denise Vierra.
Father-in law of Edward Hennessy and Timothy Vierra.
