Robert F. Pierce, age 71, passed away peacefully in the Norwood Hospital on Saturday, April 1, 2017. Born in Boston, Massachusetts on May 3, 1945, he was the son of the late Frank E. and Madeline M. (Rooney) Pierce. He was raised in West Roxbury, attending Holy Name School, where he would meet his wife in the 5th Grade. He went on to graduate from Boston College High School with the Class of 1963 before graduating from Providence College with the Class of 1967. The day after graduation, Bob was drafted into the United States Army to serve his country during the Vietnam War. He was stationed state side in Ft. Myer, Virginia with the Headquarters Company. Bob was honorably discharged in 1969, after earning the rank of Specialist, 4th Grade. He returned to his hometown and took a position with Rolfs Leather Goods.
Bob married his wife, Margaret Mulhern, on August 23, 1974, and together the young couple made their home in Quincy. They lived in various towns before finally settling in Norwood in 1986, where they raised their four children. Bob became very involved in the sports programs in Norwood, coaching both T-Ball and Little League for his son's teams.
After leaving Rolf's, Bob took on his own business, Business Brokers International, working as an insurance agent for many years. In 2000, he took a position with the Commonwealth of Massachusetts in the Department of Transitional Assistance, serving as the IT Director. In 2001, he and Margaret settled in Walpole, Massachusetts and Bob retired in 2010, due to health concerns.
