Robert Gerard McDonough

Robert Gerard McDonough age 65 years died in his Mashpee, Massachusetts home on Thursday, April 28, 2011. Born in Boston, Massachusetts on October 1, 1945; he was the son of the late James W. and Mildred J. (Rice) McDonough. He graduated from Milton High School and later earned his Bachelor's Degree from Wesfield State College. He has been a resident of Mashpee for the past 5 years moving there from Walpole, Massachusetts.

He worked for the Massachusetts State Lottery for 25 years and retired in 2004. In addition, he had taught special education at the West Springfield High School for 5 years.

Mr. McDonough was an avid golfer and was a member of the Franklin Country Club. While teaching at the West Springfield High School, he was the golf coach and led the team to win the state championship.

Beloved husband of the late Joan (Philipp) McDonough. Brother of James J. and his wife Celia McDonough of Dorchester, Rita T. McDonough of Milton, Jean L. Costa of Braintree, Richard B. and his wife Joan McDonough of Braintree. Brother in law of James and Judi FitzGerald of Mashpee and Dorothy Kidder of Attleboro. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend the funeral service that will be held in the James H. Delaney & Son Funeral Home 48 Common Street Walpole on Tuesday, May 3, 2011 at 10:00 AM. Visiting hours are Monday, May 2, 2011 from 4-8PM. Interment will be in Knollwood Memorial Park in Canton.
