Robert LaPelle Kirby

Robert LaPelle Kirby age 86 years died in the New England Sinai Hospital in Stoughton, Massachusetts on Friday, June 24, 2011. Born in Boston, Massachusetts on October 1, 1924; he was the son of the late Anthony A. and Carrie A. (LaPelle) Kirby. He graduated from Dedham High School with the class of 1942, and from the Wentworth Institiute of Technology. Mr. Kirby proudly served his contry in the United States Air Force during World War II. He has been a resident of Norfolk, Massachusetts for the past 44 years moving there from Dedham.

After being discharged from the Air Force, Mr. Kirby began working at Plymouth Rubber. He then went to work for Bird and Son in Walpole and became the head of sales for the western half of the country. After Bird and Son, he was the plant manager for the New London Mills in Norwood. Lastly he owner and operated the Clonmel Arms Restaurant in Norfolk for 10 years.

Mr. Kirby was a member of the Knights of Columbus in Franklin and was the President of Norfolk Little League in the 60's.

He enjoyed caring for "Bumpy's" Garden, hunting, fishing, golfing, following the Red Sox, and traveling to Las Vegas and Foxwoods.

Beloved husband of the late Dorothy L. (DeMers) Kirby. Loving father of James P. Kirby of Wrentham, Maureen R. Cappuccino of Norfolk, and the late Robert M. Kirby. Cherished grandfather of James Kirby, Jr., Megan Kirby, Vincent Cappuccino, Nicholas Cappuccino, and Anthony Cappuccino. Brother of the late Donald Kirby and Arthur Kirby. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial that will be celebrated at Saint Jude's Church on Monday, June 27, 2011 at 10:00 AM. Visiting hours are Sunday, June 26, 2011 from 3-7 PM in the James H. Delaney & Son Funeral Home 48 Common Street Walpole. Interment will be in Knollwood Memorial Park in Canton.
