Robert Lincoln Davenport, age 82, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 7, 2021 at his home in Walpole, Massachusetts, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Gardner, Massachusetts on July 23, 1939, he was the son of the late Howard L. and Helen L. (Hicks) Davenport. He was raised in the Dorchester area of Boston, Massachusetts, where he attended English High School and later transferred to Roxbury Memorial. As a young man, Bob left his education in the 10th grade, taking a position with Cushion Pad Fabrications in Roxbury MA, to help support his family.
While working at Cushion Pad Fabrications, Bob met his soon to be wife, Carol, who worked for Hi-Grade Shoe Findings, in the alleyway between their companies that shared a building. They were married on September 26, 1958 in Boston and made their home together in Dorchester. As Bob's career in the medical supply field continued, he moved his family to Burlington, Vermont in 1967 spending two years before settling in Manchester, New Hampshire in 1969, when he was offered an opportunity to manage a small store for New England Supply. Bob and his family went on to live in Scotia, New York for a little more than a year, before returning to Massachusetts, making their home in East Brookfield. While living in East Brookfield, Bob began working for General Medical Supply in Shrewsbury and remained with the company after moving to Millbury in 1980 and later Arlington. In 1987, Bob took a new position with H.T. Berry Company in Canton, working in inventory control and purchasing. Sadly, in 2002, Bob's wife, Carol, passed away, and Bob packed up his Arlington home, relocating to Canton, Massachusetts.
In 2005, Bob moved to Walpole, Massachusetts, where he married his second wife, Judith, on June 23, 2006. He went on to retire a couple of years later in 2008, after twenty years of dedicated service to H.T. Berry and Company.
As a young man, Bob enjoyed various craft projects, including building a doll house and all the furniture to go with it, sketching, and creating plaster casts. He loved Doo-Wop Music, regularly attending shows that were promoted by his friend, Harvey Robbins. Whenever the opportunity struck, Bob would try his luck with the Massachusetts State Lottery or with the casinos in Connecticut.
