Robert D. Cooke, age 82, passed away in the Milford Regional Medical Center on Monday, January 2, 2017. Born in Everett, Massachusetts on March 12, 1934, he was the son of the late Garnett Dixon and Dorothy May (Harwood) Cooke. He was raised in Everett and attended Everett High School.
After spending a short time in the United States Air Force, Bob met and married his wife, Eleanor G. Roberts, on June 25, 1955. They initially made their home in Norwood and spent a couple of years in Canton, before settling in Norfolk, Massachusetts in 1962. In the mid-1970s, Bob began working at the Norfolk County Agricultural High School. He retired as the Head Custodian in 1998, after 23 years of dedicated service.
As a young man, Bob enjoyed camping with his wife and children. Bob was an avid New England Sports Fan, and loved watching his beloved Red Sox and Patriots win the many championships. He developed a love for coaching little league teams while his son played baseball and went on to coach many other teams, including the Norfolk all-star teams. Bob also enjoyed playing golf, taking cruises and visiting Florida. However, most of all he was a dedicated family man, always treasuring the time that he spent with his family, especially his grandchildren. Bob regularly attended his granddaughter's soccer, basketball and softball events.
