Rita M. Young

Rita M. (Rossi) Young age 90 years died in her Walpole, Massachusetts home on Sunday, May 26, 2013. Born in Milford, New Hampshire on September 5, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Ernest F. and Agnes E. (Gallagher) Rossi. She graduated from Milford High School in Milford, New Hampshire with the class of 1940. She went on to graduate from the McLean Hospital School of Nursing in Belmont, Massachusetts with the class of 1943. She proudly served her country in the United States Army as a Second Lieutenant in the Asiatic Pacific Theater of Operations as a Nurse during World War II. Mrs. Young has been a resident of Walpole Massachusetts since 1949 moving from Milford, New Hampshire.

Mrs. Young worked as a Registered Nurse for many years. She was employed at the Medfield State Hospital as well as the Norwood Hospital. She retired from the Blessed Sacrament School as the school nurse in 1983. In addition, she was the secretary for Sinclaire Oil in Walpole for many years.

Most important to Mrs. Young was her family, she loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Beloved wife of the late Warren E. Young. Loving mother of Kathleen A. and her husband Kevin Buckley of Taunton, Thomas A. and his wife Brenda Young of Mansfield, Marcia A. and her husband Scott Simpson of East Sandwich, and Mary Ellen and her husband Gene Cook of San Antonio, TX. Cherished grandmother of Matthew and his wife Nicole Buckley, Molly Buckley, Kristen Young and Rolando Lopes, Brian Young, Jeffrey Simpson, and Kate Simpson. Great grandmother of Emma Buckley, Aiden Lopes, Jackson Lopes. Sister of the late Virginia Gill, Claire Bellew, Ernest Rossi, Jr. and Agnes Conrad. Also survived by many nieces, nephews and dear friends.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial that will be celebrated at Blessed Sacrament Church East Street (Route 27) at Diamond Street Walpole on Friday, May 31, 2013 at 10:00 AM. Visiting hours are Thursday, May 30, 2013 from 4 to 7 PM in the James H. Delaney & Son Funeral Home 48 Common Street Walpole. Interment will be in Saint Francis Cemetery in Walpole.
