Rita H. Rumbel

Rita H. (Barry) Rumbel age 81 years died in the Ellis Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Norwood, Massachusetts on Thursday March 3, 2011. Born in Watertown, Massachusetts on August 12, 1929; she was the daughter of the late Edward H. & Helen E. (Hanley) Barry. She graduated from Watertown High School with the class of 1947. She has been a resident of Walpole, Massachusetts since 1992 moving from Norwood where she spent 37 years.

After high school, Mrs. Rumbel went to work for the telephone company, where she worked for 5 years before starting her family. After raising her family, she went back to work at the corporate office for Cumberland Farms in Canton, Massachusetts. She later worked for Underground Camera and Harbor Tool Supply.

In addition to her work, Mrs. Rumbel volunteered her time at the Norwood Hospital for 5 years.

She was a member of Saint Catherine of Siena Church Catholic Women's Club in Norwood and a member of the Walpole Arts Council.

Beloved wife of the late William H. Rumbel. Loving mother of Susan M. Johanson of Walpole, Robert W. Rumbel of Colchester, CT, William B. Rumbel of Mansfield, and Thomas P. Rumbel of Walpole. Cherished grandmother of Jackie and Stephanie, Michael, Matthew, and Melanie, David, Drew, and Colin, Courtney and Paul. Sister of Lorraine Stuart of Watertown and the late Catherine Niland. Also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial that will be celebrated at Blessed Sacrament Church East Street (Route 27) at Diamond Street Walpole on Thursday, March 10, 2011 at 10:00 AM. Visiting hours are Thursday morning from 8:30 - 9:30 AM in the James H. Delaney & Son Funeral Home 48 Common Street Walpole. Interment is in Saint Francis Cemetery Walpole.
