Richard J. “Huey” Landers, age 72, passed away peacefully in the Hancock Park Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Quincy, Massachusetts on Monday, December 30, 2019. Born in Norwood, Massachusetts on November 5, 1947, he was the son of the late John Joseph and Marion A. (Butler) Landers. He was raised in East Walpole, Massachusetts, graduating from Walpole High School with the Class of 1965. Following his graduation, Richard worked for various companies, including LIDS and Polaroid, before settling into his position in the parts department of Subaru in Norwood.
Richard married his beloved wife, Shirley Day, on September 24, 1983 and they made their home in Norwood, Massachusetts, with their sons, Dwayne and Paul. Together with his family, Richard looked forward to the annual trips to Daytona, Florida. Richard continued working at Subaru in Norwood until 2016, when he retired after more than 40 years of service.
Beloved husband of the late Shirley (Day) Landers.
Loving father of Dwayne Edward Gooch of Westwood and the late Paul Scott Gooch.
Devoted son of the late John Joseph and Marion A. (Butler) Landers.
Brother of Francis J. Landers and his wife Judith of Arizona and the late Robert J. “Lefty” Landers.
Uncle of Frank Landers of North Attleboro, Lee Ann Lewis of Concord, New Hampshire, and the late Deborah Landers.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend Richard’s visitation on Saturday, January 4, 2020 from 9 to 10 AM in the James H. Delaney & Son Funeral Home, 48 Common Street, Walpole. A Graveside Service will follow in Highland Cemetery, Winter Street, Norwood at 10:30 AM. In lieu of flowers, Richard’s family asks that you to take the time to surround yourself by those who love you.
