Richard M. Johnson

December 3, 1948 — October 4, 2012

Richard M. Johnson age 63 years died in the Morton Hospital in Taunton, Massachusetts on Thursday, October 4, 2012 after a long illness. Born in Cambridge, Massachusetts on December 3, 1948, he was the son of the late Gustavus and Amelia (Preys) Johnson. Mr. Johnson proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He has been a resident of Walpole, Massachusetts for the past 23 years moving there from Somerville.

Mr. Johnson was a pipefitter with the Pipefitter's Association of Boston Local 537. He retired in 2001.

He enjoyed karate, gardening, spending time at the beach, and swimming. He was an avid Boston Red Sox fan and loved watching his son play baseball. He also enjoyed running and completed the Boston Marathon.

Beloved husband of Elaine M. (Cieri) Johnson. Loving father of Richard G. Johnson of Medford and Nicole A. Johnson of Walpole. Brother of Robert Johnson of Bonita Springs, FL, Patricia Johnson of Cambridge, Janis White of NH, and the late Maryanne Chalpin. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend the visiting hours on Monday, October 8, 2012 from 4-7PM in the James H. Delaney & Son Funeral Home 48 Common Street Walpole. A service will be held at 7PM with Military Honors. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to: Brain Injury Association -MA Attn: Development Office 30 Lyman Street Suite 10 Westborough, MA 01581.
