Richard W. Dugdale, age 89, passed away in the Norwood Hospital in Norwood, Massachusetts on Wednesday, November 22, 2017. Born in Boston, Massachusetts on November 28, 1927, he was the son of the late Wilfred R. and Constance (Woodward) Dugdale. He was raised in Needham, Massachusetts and graduated from Needham High School with the Class of 1946. He went on to take classes at Wentworth Institute of Technology and began serving his apprenticeship with Farrington Manufacturing.
After the start of the Korean War, Richard was called to duty, serving in the United States Army in 1951. He was stationed with the 25th Infantry Division and while on active duty, he married his beloved wife, Ann C. Condrin on March 22, 1952. He was honorably discharged in 1953, after earning the rank of Sergeant First Class.
Upon his return from the Army, Richard and Ann settled in Walpole, Massachusetts and in 1959, he founded Dale Tool and Die Company located in the basement of his Stone Street home. Richard later moved his business down the road on Stone Street, where it is still operated by his son, Danny.
Richard was very dedicated to the Town of Walpole, serving as an original Town Meeting Member as well as serving on the Conservation Board. He was an avid outdoorsman, and loved spending time at his cottage in New Hampshire. As a dedicated hunter, he left a large acreage of land to the Monadnock Conservancy, so other sportsmen could enjoy the same hunting ground that he loved. In addition, Richard was a skilled woodworker, spending countless hours in his workshop, creating beautiful wood carvings and models.

Cherished grandfather of 17 and great grandfather of 21.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend Richard's Life Celebration on Friday, November 24, 2017 from 4-7 PM and Saturday, November 25, 2017 from 9-9:30 AM in the James H. Delaney & Son Funeral Home, 48 Common Street, Walpole. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Blessed Sacrament Church, 10 Diamond Street, Walpole on Saturday, November 25, 2017 at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow in Knollwood Memorial Park in Canton. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to: Salvation Army, attn: Development Dept., 25 Shawmut Road, Canton, MA 02021 or the Charity of Your Choice.
