Richard A. Bendinelli, age 94 years, died in his Walpole, Massachusetts home on Thursday, February 20, 2014. Born in West Bridgewater, Massachusetts on May 21, 1919, he was the son of the late Arthur and Giroma (Mace) Bendinelli. He was raised in Sharon, Massachusetts and graduated from Sharon High School with the class of 1937. Richard proudly served his country in the United States Army during World War II. He was stationed in the Asiatic Pacific Theater of Operation and was discharged in 1946 as a Corporal. He has been a resident of Walpole, Massachusetts for the past 68 years moving from Sharon.
He was the co-owner of Bendinelli's Variety in Walpole Center for 20 years and later became a sales agent for Prudential Life Insurance. He retired in 1981 after earning many top sales awards.
Richard was a member of the Walpole Italian American Club, where he enjoyed playing bocce and was a founding member of the Walpole VFW Post.
He was an avid New England Sports fan and enjoyed golfing, walking to Bird Park, and watching nature at both Clark's Pond in Walpole and Saint Timothy's Church in Norwood. He loved dancing with his wife, Rose, at Mosely's on the Charles in Dedham and Lake Pearl in Wrentham. He enjoyed an active social life and liked meeting new people, however his family was the most important thing to him, especially his children. He will always be remembered as a true gentleman.

Bendinelli and his wife Mary of Owasso, OK, Sharon Poole and her husband Howard of Alford, FL, Michael Bendinelli an his life partner Elizabeth of Walpole, Arthur Bendinelli and his wife Patricia of Berkley, and Gina Bendinelli and her husband Lester of Whately. Cherished grandfather of Tracey, Jason, Camille, Paige, Jennifer, Rebecca, and Howard and great grandfather of Sterling, Gianni, Sonny, Canon, Richard, Katelyn, Alissa, Rebecca, Jenna, Julia, Gianna, Joseph, Sam, Lily, Madison, and Skyler. Brother of the late Italo Bendinelli and the late Edward Bendinelli.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend Richard's Life Celebration on Wednesday, February 26, 2014 from 4-8 PM and Thursday, February 27, 2014 from 9-9:30 AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Blessed Sacrament Church 10 Diamond Street Walpole on Thursday, February 27, 2014 at 10:00 AM. Interment will be in Knollwood Memorial Park in Canton. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Italian American Club, 109 Stone Street, Walpole, MA 02081.
