Rachel Ann MacMillan, age 23, passed away in her Fort Lauderdale home on Friday, May 27, 2016. Born in Boston, Massachusetts on November 23, 1992, she spent her early years growing up in West Roxbury. After her family settled in Walpole, Massachusetts in 1997, Rachel's athletic career began, as she took classes at the Walpole Gymnastics Academy as well as at Commonwealth Dance Academy.
While in high school, Rachel was a three season athlete, playing soccer in the fall, ice hockey in the winter, and lacrosse in the spring. In addition to being a member of the Walpole Rebels sports programs, she also enjoyed playing ice hockey with the King Philip league as well as being a member of the Assabet Girls Hockey Team, a National Club Team. However, sports did not define Rachel, as her accomplishments on the field were outshined by her academics in the classroom. She was a straight A Honors Student throughout her four years at Walpole High School and graduated with the Class of 2011. She went on to attend the University of Hartford, where she earned a place on the Dean's List, working toward her degree in psychology. Rachel continued her college classes at Elizabethtown College in Pennsylvania, maintaining her studies toward her degree in psychology. In 2014, Rachel settled in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
Rachel was a perfect example of a happy, outgoing, and popular young woman. She loved having fun with her many friends and always had a beautiful smile no matter what she was doing. Most of all, she cherished the time she spent with her sisters as they remained unbelievably close over the years.
