Priscilla (Clapp) Haverly, age 92, passed away in her Walpole, Massachusetts home on Sunday, January 14, 2018. Born in Norwood, Massachusetts on July 26, 1925, she was the daughter of the late John M. and Minnie (Bingham) Clapp. She attended Norwood Public School and was a member of the First Congregational Church and the Rainbow Girls. From an early age, she developed her long-time passions for golf and bridge. Priscilla graduated from Norwood High School with the Class of 1943, where she made lifelong friends that she still enjoyed spending time with and she made every effort to attend her reunions to catch up with classmates who had moved away.
Priscilla was working at the Norwood Co-Operative Bank when she first met her soon to be husband, Burton L. Haverly, who was working at Andy's Jewelers. They were married on October 7, 1950 and purchased their first and only home together in Walpole in 1953. Always working from a young age, Priscilla left work at the Norwood Cooperative Bank to care for her two children until they entered school and then went back to work as a bookkeeper for Mister Donut and then as a program auditor for the Massachusetts Department of Education before retiring in 1988.
Priscilla had a lifelong passion for bowling, crossword puzzles, golf, with Burt, at Walpole Country Club and later Sharon Country Club, and, of course, Bridge at the Walpole Public Library. Retirement allowed her to travel extensively with friends and family, particularly enjoying the Norwood based Wacky Women. She was incredibly grateful to the Walpole and Norwood Senior Citizens for the assistance in obtaining a three-wheeler for to help with her mobility in addition to other donations that made her life easier. Most of all, she loved spending Thanksgiving and Christmas with her grandchildren.
Beloved wife of the late Burton L. Haverly.
She is survived by her daughter, Martha Haverly and her partner, Melissa Sparks, of Marstons Mills, her son Jonathan Haverly and his wife, Robin, and grandchildren Alec and Sawyer of North Easton, her nephew Deane Yankee and his wife Peggy and grandniece Kim Yankee, her nephew Ken Yankee and his wife Paula and grandnephews Ken and John Yankee.
Sister of the late Marie L. Yankee, John M. Clapp, Jr., and Virginia Clapp.
