Phyllis C. Wright

February 29, 1928 — March 20, 2017

Phyllis C. (Molloy) Wright, age 89, passed away peacefully in the Ellis Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Norwood, Massachusetts on March 20, 2017, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Boston, Massachusetts on February 29, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Henry J. and Dorothy (Livingston) Molloy. She was raised primarily in West Roxbury, however, because her father was still on active duty, she spent her later teenage years in Alameda, California, graduating from Notre Dame Academy in 1945. The family returned home to West Roxbury, later settling in Mattapan, and Phyllis found work in a downtown Boston department store.

Phyllis married Robert F. McGuire on September 22, 1951 in Saint Angela's Church in Mattapan. As Robert was still enlisted in the US Navy, they initially made their home together in San Diego, California and 2 years later they returned to Mattapan. In 1962, the young couple settled in Walpole, Massachusetts to raise their family. Phyllis took on the role of a homemaker, however, she was very involved within her community. She was a devoted member of Blessed Sacrament Church, taking an active role in their Catholic Women's Club. She also supported her children in all of their sports and activities, most notably, the Pop Warner Football Program. As her children grew older, she began working again, part-time for New England Telephone. Sadly, in 1968, Robert passed at an early age, and Phyllis became a single mother, raising her four children. Thankfully, the family lived on Brown Drive and everyone in their neighborhood helped whenever needed.

She began a new chapter in her life on May 11, 1983, when she married Robert A. Wright in Saint Denis' Church in Islington. She retired from the phone company and began splitting her time between Walpole and Largo, Florida.

Throughout her life, Phyllis loved preparing and celebrating the holidays. Her absolute favorite holiday was Halloween, as she dressed up as a witch every year. Every holiday had its own special decorations for the outside of her home, and she was rarely outdone. More important than the decorating and costumes, was the real reason she loved the holidays, it was an opportunity to spend time with her family. She treasured the time she spent with her grandchildren, often referring to them as her greatest joy. Even when she was 1000 miles away in Florida, she made sure that she celebrated each one of her grandchildren's birthdays, whether in person or with an extremely well timed card.

Beloved wife of the late Robert F. McGuire and Robert A. Wright.
Loving mother of Patricia A. Schwamberger and her husband Robin of Perrysburg, Ohio, the late Henry J. McGuire and his surviving wife Valerie of East Walpole, the late Charlene M. Lyons and her surviving husband Dennis of Norwood, and the late Robert F. McGuire, Jr. and his surviving wife Barbara of Andover.
Cherished grandmother of Shannon Recco, Tracy Ryle, Caitlin Sullivan, Courtney Lyons, Amy Schwamberger, Lyndsey McGuire, Cara McGuire, and Colin McGuire and great grandmother of Riley, Owen, Connor, Jake, Andreas, John, and Finley.
Sister of Robert F. Molloy and his wife Linda of Walpole, William B. Molloy of Rhode Island, the late Henry J. Molloy, and the late Gerald P. Molloy.
Also survived by several nieces and nephews, including her tireless and dedicated caregiver, Sandy Pellegrine.
